(Based on THL4 sensor data at and before 14.11.2010.) 01-01-2010:jrgm@space.dtu.dk The WDC Copenhagen moved to DTU Space, Technical University of Denmark, and the PCN index is distributed from: ftp://ftp.space.dtu.dk/WDC/indices/pcn 06-11-2013:jrgm@space.dtu.dk In august 2013, IAGA has endorsed the PC-index following a proposal be AARI and DTU Space. Currently, the infrastructure to distribute the newly endorsed version of the PC-index is being developed and will shortly replace the current version of the PC-index distributed here. 24-01-2014:jrgm@space.dtu.dk The PCN index version produced in previous years at DTU is called DMI#2_2001 in the publication McCreadie and Menvielle (2010). This index was previously available from: ftp://ftp.space.dtu.dk/WDC/indices/pcn/ and is from now on available from ftp://ftp.space.dtu.dk/WDC/indices/pcn_nr2_2001/ 03-03-2014:jrgm@space.dtu.dk corrected pcn2003.zip file on ftp://ftp.space.dtu.dk/WDC/indices/pcn_nr2_2001/ by removing PN200401.IAG and PN200402.IAG which previously had been included in this zip-file. 31-10-2016: anna@space.dtu.dk We stopped producing these PCN files 31-12-2014, but will keep it on this FTP server for documentation. ########################################################### ## FORMAT DESCRIPTION ##################################### ########################################################### Definitive Northern Polar Cap (PCN) index time series are available since 1975 in a resolution of 1-min (centered at the top of the minute) and averaged to 15-min values. #### The PCN index is identical to the index labeled ‘DMI#2_2001’ in Table 1 and Table 2 (p. 1888 and p. 1891) of McCreadie and Menvielle (2010). A short description by Papitashvili, Rasmussen and Papitashvili is available from ftp://ftp.space.dtu.dk/WDC/indices/pcn/pci-desc_26Feb2002.pdf #### Current Year Daily files: The current year index is "preliminary" until the end of the year. The 15-min index is given with an accuracy of 0.1 decimal units; the 1-min index is given with the accuracy of 0.01 decimal units. Available are daily files of preliminary 1-min and 15-min PCN indices YYYYMMDD.iag (IAGA2002 format) and of preliminary 15-min PC indices YYYYMMDD.wdc (WDC format). Both are updated every hour. #### Past Year files: The FTP directory contains compressed yearly files pcnYYYY.zip with the definitive 1-min and 15-min PCN indices. The zip-file contains monthly files PNYYYYMM.IAG in IAGA2002 format.
